Paul A. Miner

Holladay, Utah – Paul Alan Miner, age 77, passed away peacefully at home on July 1, 2025, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born on April 19, 1948, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Artie and Blanche Thomas Miner.

Paul grew up in Salt Lake City, where he attended East High School. It was there he met his sweetheart Karen Burton, whom he later married in the Salt Lake Temple on March 12, 1970. From Sugar House, to Sandy, and finally to their dream home in Holladay, Utah, they built a beautiful life together and raised four children. They shared 26 wonderful years of marriage before Karen's passing in 1996.

On April 24, 1998, Paul married JoAnn Johnson in the Salt Lake Temple. Their sweet union was a testament to enduring love, bringing JoAnn and her four sons into Paul’s life and creating a vibrant blended family filled with shared joy and cherished memories.

Paul’s professional life was marked by his dedication to medicine. He graduated from the University of Utah with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1970 and went on to earn his medical degree from the University of Utah School of Medicine in 1974. He specialized in endocrinology, diabetes & metabolism, and internal medicine. His career was a reflection of his deep compassion, integrity, and unwavering commitment to the welfare of others, which garnered him widespread admiration from colleagues and patients alike.

A faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Paul served diligently in various church callings, finding particularly deep meaning in his calling as Branch President for Holladay Healthcare. Paul loved the Lord and exemplified his faith through his service to family and neighbors. He was a loving and wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend.

Beyond his professional and spiritual pursuits, Paul enjoyed spending time with family and friends, playing the piano, solving puzzles, cheering on the Utes, and indulging in his favorite treats: Diet Coke and chocolate chip cookies. He loved the mountains and especially appreciated the beauty and order of the earth.

Paul is survived by his beloved wife, JoAnn Miner; his four children: Melissa Thomas, Rich (Heidi) Miner, Lori (Adam) Nicosia, and Dave (Heidi) Miner; and his four step-children: John (Paige) Storheim, Erik (Brooke) Storheim, Matt (Ashli) Storheim, and Steven Storheim. He is also survived by his sister, Maxine Curtis; his brother, Doug Miner; his brothers-in-law, J.R. (Sue) Johnson, Richard (Emmy) Burton, and Scott (Lynn) Burton; 29 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Artie and Blanche Thomas Miner; his first wife, Karen Burton Miner; his brother, Robert Miner; and his brother-in-law, Don Curtis.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 5, 2025, at the Holladay 4th Ward, 4917 S. Viewmont Street (2085 E), Holladay, Utah 84117.
