In Memory

Helen Schuchert ** (Treasurer)

Helen M. Schuchert, 71, passed away suddenly at her home on December 24, 1995. For over 20 years she had suffered with heart disease silently, courageously and with great dignity.

She was born on January 27, 1924 in Ogden, Utah to Francis Clifton Middlemas and Olga Louise Mortensen. She married Jay Hemsley Cottrell, August 16, 1943, later divorced. She married C. James Schuchert on July 20, 1963 in Reno, Nevada, the marriage later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

Helen was a wonderful and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She also had many dear friends who will cherish her memory. She loved her family very much and was happiest when everyone could get together. The evening of her death, she had just returned from the family Christmas party at her daughter's home where she had enjoyed seeing and being with all of her children and grandchildren in a happy setting. A loving Heavenly Father waited until this was accomplished before He called her home.

She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, having served in many callings during her life, as well as being a tower of strength for her husband, Jim, as he served in various callings.

She was employed at Walker Bank for some time but her real love was when she was the treasurer at East High School for many years, retiring in 1974 because of her health.

She enjoyed working with ceramics and all kinds of crafts, decorating her home and others with her handiwork.

She is survived by her husband, a son and two daughters, Kerry (Kase) Cottrell, Sharon Penrose (Charles) and Vickie Summershays (Steve) all of Salt Lake City, Utah; a step daughter, Colleen Ruckstuhl, Phoenix, Arizona; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a brother Francis Middlemas and a sister, Beverly Evans (Richard) both of Salt Lake City. Her parents, a son Ronald and a brother, Robert preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be 12 Noon Thursday December 28, 1995 in the Glenmoor Stake Center, South Jordan, Utah at 4200 West Skye Drive (9800 South). Friends may call at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 South Highland Drive, Wednesday 6 to 8 p.m. and at the Stake Center on Thursday from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m. prior to services.
