Craig Tuft
July 20, 1954 - November 22, 2024
Craig Tuft passed away peacefully in his home in South Jordan, Utah, on November 22, 2024. He was born to Morris and Grace Tuft on July 20, 1954, in Salt Lake City, Utah, with his two brothers and two sisters, where they all, with the help of lifelong friends, caused mischief on Blair Street.
His tough exterior was often trumped by his love for others. Anyone who knew him knew of his loyal, loving, and generous heart. His quick wit drew others to him. You knew he loved you because he teased you. He was always first to offer his hand in assistance and his arms in protection. While some confused his gruffness as orneriness, the ones that knew him best recognized the man he truly was.
As the toughest man we know, it was difficult to watch him endure the battle he engaged in over the last year. He used that opportunity to bring others into his life that otherwise would have missed the chance to know him. His caregivers loved him, and he loved them. Words cannot express the gratitude his family felt for them. He also used that time to come nearer to his Savior and found comfort in knowing that he and God were prepared to meet again. It was his strength that bolstered his family.
This old cowboy loved the Yankees almost as much as he loved family. He hoped for one last World Series win. He proudly referred to himself as a redneck and was regularly found wearing mismatched camo. He enjoyed camping, hunting, and being with his family. He was always prepared with a knife in his pocket and tools in his truck.
Craig will be missed by everyone who knew him. He truly was our rock that provided a foundation of a loving family. He was the man to look up to. He was the first one you’d call. He was kind, strong, and honest. He was the shoulder to cry on as well as the one to bring you to tears in laughter. His departure leaves a hole in our hearts that will never be filled.
He is survived by the love of his life, Kaylene, his wife of nearly 35 years. He is also survived by his children: Amber and her daughters, Kaylee, Madie, and Brynlee; Tom (Tiffany) and their daughters, Olivia, Atlanta, and Lily; Justin; Teisha (Tracey) and their children, Cole, Madison, and Elsa; TJ and his son, Dillon; Tyler (Saphina) and their children, Easton, Brighten, Addison, and Stetson; and Chase (Trisha). As well as the many that can call him brother. He is preceded in death by his parents, Morris and Grace; his mother- and father-in-law, Tom and RaeOna; and his brother, Dal.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 3, 2024 at 11:00 am at the Glenmoor 6th Ward Chapel, 4200 W. Skye Drive, South Jordan, Utah. Viewings will be on Monday, December 2, 2024 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley, 1007 W. South Jordan Parkway (10600 S), South Jordan, Utah and on Tuesday from 10:00 – 10:45 am at the church.
All are invited to celebrate his life (even Red Sox fans). We ask that you honor him by wearing Yankees gear or colors or your favorite camo.
