Christine Cannon (Jacobsen, Knickerbocker) VIEW PROFILE

Christine Cannon (Jacobsen, Knickerbocker)

Christine Cannon Knickerbocker died peacefully on Saturday, December 7, 1991 after a long illness.

Christine (Kiki) was born December 15, 1947 to D. James and Elaine Anderson Cannon. She attended Dilworth Elementary, Hillside Junior, and Highland High School. She enjoyed choice relationships with several teachers. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in history from the University of Utah, where she was a Chi Omega. She was involved in civic affairs, being a member of the Salt Lake Junior League and Assistance League of the Bay area. An avid tennis player, she often competed in local tournaments wherever she lived.

She loved people. Her many friends and large family were delighted by her wonderful sense of humor and style. She added beauty to her environment by her skill in needlework and in the restoration and furnishing of homes. Christine inevitably rose to any occasion with excellent preparation and presentation. She approached each holiday with enthusiasm expressed in clothing, decoration, and celebration. Many were touched by her charm, good humor, and faith, even in the last stages of her illness.

An active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served in many capacities in Primary and Young Womens. Her influence was felt for good among both the youth and their leaders. She had joy and tender friendships with the Spanish speaking people through her service as the Miami Stake Young Women President.

Above all, Christine was devoted to her children, Isaac Cannon Jacobsen, 16; and Abigail Jacobsen, 13. They had built a strong and stable family tradition with high ideals for scholarship and service to the Lord. Christine battled to live so that she could continue to guide and nurture her children.

Christine is survived by her children; her parents, her brothers and sisters and their spouses, James Q. and Rebecca R. Cannon; Carla Cannon; Anthony J. and Katherine W. Cannon, all of Salt Lake City; Susan C. and Bryant McOmber, Palo Alto, Calif.; and Holly C. and Richard Metcalf, Seattle, Wash. She was adored by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral service will be held at 12 noon, Wednesday, December 11, 1991, at the Federal Heights Ward, 1300 North Fairfax Road. Friends may call at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. or at the meeting house at 10:45 a.m. Wednesday. Interment will be in the Salt Lake City Cemetery.

Contributions may be made in her name for research at the University of Utah Health Sciences Center, Development Office, 50 North Medical Drive, SLC, Ut 84132.

ChristineWas truly a gifted soul much like her mother Elaine and her other siblings. From her days of being a student body officer at Hillside junior high school to her many incredible graceful feats at Highland high school Christine was a person to admire and love. There is sadness in her story but true beauty in her devotion to her children. She rest in peace.

I remember seeing Christine & her sisters  & her mom, Elaine,  at the Chi Omega Christmas parties  when our moms were very young.   Christine must have been 6 or 7 years old.  Elaine played the piano,  all the shiny~haired  Cannon sisters had bells on their wrists & they dazzled us with their harmonies of favorite carols.  We all sang along.  Sweet memories of a beautiful family.

I miss Kiki. She had so much talent and charm,  She made me laugh so hard but she also inspired me in may other ways.  We lost a bright light too soon.

Throughout high school and college people would get us mixed up.  So Kiki and I started telling people we were twins. I was honored to be her twin.  I miss our late night talks at the Chi Omega house.  Our husbands attended Stanford University at the same time and Kiki and I spent our days shopping or going to the beach. She lived in Florida for awhile and her uplifting phone calls really helped me during difficult times in the late 80's.  I miss her wisdom and faith

Christine was my neighbor and friend from early childhood. Her father was my Bishop, her mother was a general officer in the Church, and her siblings were all loved and admired. To know Christine was to love her. I have no doubt of the value she is on the other side of the veil because of the remarkable influence for good that she was in life. Anyone who knew her was better off because of it.

Every once in a while, if you're lucky, you have a truly unique and gifted friend enter your life!  I treasure the many moments of humor and joy Christine brought to me!  One early evening, a bunch of us ventured to Lagoon.......about 6 of us crammed into the car (can't remember who was driving). Anyway, that 19 mile drive to Farmington was laced with Christine Cannon jokes, puns and just enough sarcassm!  She was hilarious!  We used to use the term "GOOD WOMAN"!  She defines that term in spades!
