James E. (Jim) Alvey

1948-2022

Syracuse, UT.—James E. (Jim) Alvey

James E. (Jim) Alvey, age 73, passed away on March 15, 2022 of natural causes. He was born to James (Otis) and Mildred Call Alvey on April 12, 1948. He grew up on Crystal Avenue and graduated from Highland High School class of 1966.

He married Trent Thursby and they had two children, Shannon, and Christopher (CJ). His constant companion later was Marie Pooler and their dog Pita in Syracuse.

Family and Friends may remember Jim's lively personality as evidenced by the Superman "S" necklace, which he never took off. He loved to snow ski, but when he water skied, he really could show how it was done. He loved to golf with family and friends in Star Valley Wyoming.

He always had a smile and was a practical joker at heart and loved to sing and dance. He was a hero to his family and to his friends. If you wanted something fixed, he was right there to do it. He was always there to put up his mom's Christmas lights or help with things she needed before she passed.

Jim worked at the Union Pacific railroad from high school graduation until he retired.

He is survived by his children Shannon (Bodhi) Alvey, Christopher (Amy) Alvey and grandchildren Taylor, Sydney, Ryan and Noah. Siblings Sherry (Kartchner), Steve (Rita) Alvey, Ronda (Steve) Beckstead and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Reid Alvey.

Care entrusted to Lindquist's Mortuary in Layton, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
