Susan Yvonne Jackson Buffington          1948 ~ 2022

Susan Jackson Buffington passed away on Sunday February 20, 2022 in St. George, Utah from an Intracranial Hemorrhage. Susan was the faithful wife of William (Bill) S. Buffington for 43 years. Susan was survived by Bill (husband), Arthur Dean (Kirby) Jackson, (father, 98 years old), brothers, Bruce Jackson, David Jackson, sons – Sean Allen, Ryan Arthur (Savana), and Daniel Edwin. Susan was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Yvonne Mary Williams (2002), brother James Jackson (February 17, 2022) and Jerry Jackson (1951, as an infant). Susan truly loved being a mother and had great love and respect for her three sons, and all their varied accomplishments. Susan was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and served in a number of leadership and support roles within the Church. She and Bill served a mission for the Church in the Utah Salt Lake City Headquarters Mission (2017-2018). Susan was widely loved as a leader and exemplar of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. She taught with precision and exactness the gospel principles she lived. Susan grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah. After graduating from Highland High School, she attended the University of Utah. Susan graduated from “the U” with a Bachelor and Master’s Degree in Education. In 1978 she met Bill, and after a very quick courtship, they were married and left to spend their first few years in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Susan enjoyed travel and blossomed as an expatriate wife and working as an English teacher. In all, Susan and Bill spent 14 years living on the Arabian Peninsula, and travelled extensively for both work and pleasure. Bill and Susan retired to St. George where they spent their time traveling, going on adventures, and participating in their Church and community. Bill often said that he was a far better person because of Susan’s influence in his life. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Utah Food Bank at www.utahfoodbank.org as a gift donation in the name of Susan Buffington.

Funeral services will be held Friday, February 25, 2022 at 1493 W. Angel Arch Dr. St George, Utah at 11:00 AM. A Viewing will begin at 9:30 AM the same day. Interment will take place Saturday February 26, 2022 following a 10:00 AM Viewing held at Larkin Sunset Lawn, 2350 East 1300 South, Salt Lake City, Utah. Burial will be at the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
