Lynette Pollary

January 16, 1948 — December 19, 2023

Our beloved and beautiful mother, Susan Lynette Clayton Pollary, concluded her earthly life on December 19, 2023, in Lehi, Utah, as a result of age-related illnesses. She was born January 16, 1948, to Lorin Waldo Clayton and Loa Henderson Egbert in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was the second of five children. She adored her parents and that love continued until the end of her life. Lynette loved to assist her mother and was her "right hand" with many parties and family get-togethers. She also was a nurturing and caring babysitter to her younger siblings. She graduated from Highland High School where she met her future husband. She married Rodney Pollary in June of 1969. She is the mother to five children and the grandmother to 15 grandchildren.

She graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from the University of Utah. She later taught kindergarten before becoming a mother, which was her lifelong dream as a child. Family was the center of her world, and she worked tirelessly to nurture and teach her children. She was an accomplished cook and gifted her family with this talent. Family dinner was a priority for her, and she made it happen every night. She taught each of her children all the important life skills which blessed them as they moved out of the house. As a devoted mother, she tirelessly supported her children in their activities, dreams, and struggles.

She would gather her family and extended family often to provide holiday celebrations and maintain family traditions. Christmas was Lynette's favorite time of year, and she labored late into the night to surprise her kids with stuffed stockings and gifts. Family was, absolutely, the most important thing to her.

She enjoyed music, especially classical music and Broadway musicals. Attending plays and concerts was a favorite event. Singing in church choirs was also a passion. She loved to listen to music while at home and while driving. Music brought peace to her soul and she shared that love with her family. She also had a passion for flowers and kept a beautiful flower and vegetable garden at every home she lived. She enjoyed the Gardens at Thanksgiving Point and attended annually for many years.

The family cabin was her favorite of all places to be on Earth. She related it to the temple as sacred ground. Every year, she would plan getaways to stay, play in the river, walk on the logging road, and enjoy meadows with bright red wild poppies. Seeing her family enjoy the cabin brought her so much joy.

Becoming a grandmother was a bright part of her later years. Rocking, loving, and holding her grandbabies was her specialty. Many hours were spent caring for her grandchildren and babysitting them while their parents left for the evening. She took great interest in celebrating their birthdays with special outings and dates, as well as hand-picking their Christmas gifts. She saw each grandchild as unique and loved them individually. She would support them in their talents and hobbies by watching them play or perform, and she would leave them with a special candy bar afterward to let them know she loved them. Her grandchildren were the most special highlight of her life.

Above all, she loved Jesus Christ. Despite enormous difficulties, she remained faithful and valiant to her testimony of Him. She was obedient and dedicated to His church. She served in many callings, including as a temple worker in the Jordan River Temple for many years. She loved helping with the live ordinances the most. The temple was a frequent topic of conversation with her, and she would often express her love and desire for her family to go there. Of all the legacies she gave her children, grandchildren, friends, and neighbors, her example of spiritual strength and unwavering faith was the brightest.

She is survived by her five children, Anthony, Lisa (Chris) Taylor, Rosemary (Nathan) Jenson, Ken (Amy) Pollary, and Annie (Brent) Robbins, as well as 14 of her grandchildren and two spouses of grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Cathy (Norm) Wendel, Craig (JoLynn) Clayton, Patty (Chuck) Larsen, and Mark (Erica) Clayton, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her precious granddaughter, Elisa Pollary, and her parents, Loa and Lorin Clayton.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, December 29, 2023, at 2:00 pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints meetinghouse: 890 West 3070 North, Lehi, Utah 84043.
