Ruth Rae Platt Wortley

July 19, 1954 – August 24, 2026

On a warm summer evening as little birds return to their nests and people traveled home from their days endeavors, Ruth went home to her Heavenly Father surrounded by her children; Jared(Ashley), Scott(Holly), Jessie(Jason) and her husband Paul. She also leaves behind her 10 grandchildren; Brooklyn, Blake, Grace, Naomi, Leo, Rex, Ruby, Quincey, Henry, and Wells. She loved being a wife and mother and a fun loving grandma. She was reluctant to leave all those she loved… but was spiritually ready for the next portion of her journey. She was born to Richard and Yvonne Platt and was one of six siblings; Deb, Keith, Jill, Colleen, Mark and Ben. She and her husband Paul were sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple in 1979. During her illness, Paul tirelessly and tenderly cared for her and was truly the love of her life. (She always said- He was her Hero!) She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in numerous capacities including a mission in Nauvoo, where she and Paul made lifelong friends. Her strong testimony of the gospel was clearly evident in every note she sang. She willingly shared her beautiful gift. If Ruth could tell you herself today, she would tell you that she lived a wonderful life! She sang in many choruses; Utah Symphony Chorus, Utah Opera Chorus, Odyssey Corral and she sang in her ward choir where she was capable of singing any part. Blessed with physical and spiritual beauty, her life was full and abundant. She married the man she loved, was the mother to great kids and lots of grandchildren. She traveled the world but loved Hawaii best. She had friends that greatly admired her, and an abiding faith throughout her life that sustained her. It has been said that it is not how long we live but how we’ve used the moments we’ve been given. Ruth has lived her moments well with grace and gratitude. She will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved her.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, September 3, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 4650 Naniloa Drive, Holladay, Utah 84117. There will be a viewing on Wednesday, September 2, 2026 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. and Thursday, September 3, 2026 from 11:00 - 11:45 a.m. at the same location.
