Deborah Lawrence Ohlson Poarch 1953 ~ 2009 Deborah Lawrence Ohlson Poarch passed away April 24, 2009 after a valiant fight against cancer.She was born August 24, 1953 to W. Mack Lawrence and Jacqueline Young Lawrence. Deborah was mother to Brian Eric Ohlson, Steven Scott Ohlson and Jennifer Elisia Ohlson Phillips (Steve). Her second marriage was to Alvin L. Poarch on August 14, 2007 in the Salt Lake Temple. Debbie worked for Mountain Bell and Granite School District during her working career. She participated in volley ball, snow skiing and particularly enjoyed water skiing. She served in the L.D.S. Church in many capacities. Her assignments included the Ward Relief Society Presidency, Single Adult Ward and stake assignments as well as teaching assignments in several Church organizations. She enjoyed her various callings along with frequent visits to the Jordan River Temple. Deb's greatest love and commitment was to her family. She had many health challenges during her lifetime but she overcame them through her faith in Heavenly Father and his son Jesus Christ. She relied upon the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the revealed doctrine. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 1, 2009 at 12 noon at the Willow Canyon 4th Ward, 1600 East Buttercup Drive (10200 South). A viewing will be held Thurs., April 30th from 6-8 p.m. at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 Highland Drive and at the chapel prior to funeral service from 10-11:30 a.m. Interment will follow the service at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers please make contributions to Huntsman Cancer Institute.
