JAMESTOWN — Jim Giles, 54, passed away Tuesday, February 24, 2009.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, February, 27, at Forbis and Dick Guilford Chapel.

A native of Utah, Jim was a long time resident and businessman in Greensboro. Jim was born April 3, 1954, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Jim loved the mountains and could often be found skiing, hiking and communing with nature. Upon relocating to North Carolina, his passion for the outdoors continued with adventures in sailing with his friends and family and in his appreciation for the craftsmanship of wooden boats. Jim had many interests and enjoyed working with his hands. As a talented woodworker, Jim found apprenticeship with a Master Patternmaker in the early 1970's. Less than a decade later, and with a keen eye for business, Jim founded Envision/Concept Development Studios. Though he demanded perfection, Jim had a great deal of compassion, respect, and appreciation for his skilled employees.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Florence Giles and his golden retriever, Dulce.

Surviving are his beloved children, Aron Giles (Florida), Hannah Giles (Texas), and Sadie Giles (Utah); their mother, Anne Tally; loving fiancé, Delores Baldwin; sister, Debi Giles (Utah) and nephews, Adam Ballard (Utah) and Preston Ballard (Utah). He also leaves many friends to mourn his loss.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Friends of NC Maritime Museum (watercraft center), 315 Front Street, Beaufort, NC 28516.
