Andy Gabrys

Andy Gabrys

Note from Lettie Gerstner McLaughlin:

A neighbor who lives across the street from Andy told me the following: Andy recently retired and spent a lot of time getting his motor home ready to go hunting in the fall. While hunting with his buddy, Andy started felling ill so he took to his bed where he succumbed to COVID. There is no obituary that I can find.

Thanks Lettie,

If anyone has any information on Andy's death please share it.

I grew up with Andy and am so sorry to hear of his passing.

Andy is one of my best boyhood friends who live at the bottom of my street. We spent hours together and when I was told to get rid of all of my pigeons (30+) I gave the coup and the birds to Andy. In my 7th grade year after spending 7 months laid up from a fall, my mother failed to pick us up from Evergreen Jr High. No cell phones back then! Andy walked with me and carried my books (no backpacks) the 2.5 miles home and understood why I complained that my underarms were sore. We have continued to live in the same neighborhood and I saw him several times before his passing. It was a real shock. I spoke with his daughter who lives in the midwest and the family is planning a memorial service for him this summer. Sad to lose great friends.

He passed in the fall of 2021 - not 2020.

Spoke several times with Andy's daughter who lives in the South and she indicated that they would hold a graveside memorial this summer. I'll post anything I hear.
