Carroll Truett Aly, Jr., of San Angelo, Texas, passed away in Fort Worth, Texas at 11:25 a.m., on Saturday, October 23, 2021. He was born on July 22, 1933 in Brownwood, Texas to Reverend Carroll Truett Aly and Mrs. Beulah Mae Smart Aly. Carroll graduated from Tahoka Texas High School in 1948. He then went on to obtain a Music Education degree from Howard Payne University. Later, he graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Master of Music degree.
For thirty-one years, Carroll taught Music Education and directed choirs and ensembles at Alta Loma Elementary, Fort Concho Elementary, Edison Junior High, Glenn Junior High, and Central High School. He also directed music in various San Angelo churches, namely, Belmore Baptist Church, Harris Avenue Baptist Church, Lake View Baptist Church, and The First United Methodist Church.
Carroll was a member of First Baptist Church - San Angelo.
On May 1, 1952, Carroll married Jaime Wilma Haney in the First Baptist Church Borger, Texas. Surviving are his wife, two sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Connie Aly, and David and Deborah Aly. There are five grandchildren, Crissy Aly, Jennifer Aly Dodd and husband, Eddie, David Aly, Jr., Sean Aly, Thomas Aly and wife, Jordan. Also, there six great-grandchildren, Cameron Ingram, Lilliana Aly, MacKenzie Wilson, Graham Aly, Laney Aly, and Jett Aly. Also, surviving is a sister, Jo Helen Aly Swink and husband, J.W. There are several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, October 28, 2021, 12:00 Noon, at Johnson’s Lawnhaven Memorial Garden. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 27, 2021, 5-7 PM at Johnson’s Funeral Home.

Mr. Aly was one of those teachers who had a profound impact on my life. My time in choir in high school were some of my happiest moments in school. Mr. Aly played a large part of that.
He was quirky and strict. He repeated his stories A LOT. But we always knew that he loved us and wanted the best for us. He seemed to genuinely enjoy what he did.
Over the years I crossed paths with Mr. Aly a few times. He was always the same, with that twinkle in his eyes. A very good man.
