I enjoyed a lunch with Sandra at UTSA shortly before her tragic accident. I did not know her particularly well (I'm not even sure if she went to UTSA); however, we went to Hobby together where I too heard her incredible performance so we chatted for a while. I remember reading a notice of her death very shortly thereafter. From that brief reunion, I can say she had a truely vibrant personality that complimented her voice in song. I believed then as I do now, that she will be missed.
I knew Sandra and had an opportunity to sing with her several times. She was very dedicated to her talent and I was always amazed at how strong she was. Her smile was incredible and her voice was bigger than life. I have a copy of the Senior Class ('84) play, "Oklahoma" where she sang by the well and inspired her classmates. I do miss her.
I was devastated when I learned of Sandra's death in 1987. I was working as a legal secretary in the SA downtown area at the time and was able to attend her wake and give my condolences to her family. To this day I am very grateful to have been able to share with them what a marvelous young lady she was how she will be very missed. I then ran into Annette, her sister, about 8 yrs later and again we talked about Sandra and what a void there had been with her gone. Sandra was so sweet and special.
We played togeher in the Spanish Choir..she was a very sweet beautiful person. I played guitar while she sang Pat Benatar on the bus. She is definitely an angel up there...

Sandra died June 3rd, 1987 after her car was tragically swept away in flooding on San Pedro creek.I was in the talent show with Sandra at Hobby Middle School. I remember she sang "You Light Up My Life" and it was just amazing.
She was amazingly talented.
I saw that no one had posted anything here about her and I wanted to give some details in case folks were wondering.
