ANDERSON Susan Guion Anderson

SAN ANTONIO--A Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 7th, at University United Methodist Church for Susan Guion Anderson of Springfield, Oregon, who died December 24 of cancer-related causes. She was 44. She was born December 28, 1966, in Lubbock, Texas, to William G. and Freda Thompson Guion, and grew up in San Antonio. She married Gary Daniel Anderson on June 27, 2009, in Walterville, Oregon. She earned a bachelor's degree from the University of California, Santa Cruz and master's and doctor's degrees from the University of Texas, Austin. She was an associate professor of linguistics at the University of Oregon and had just been promoted to full professor a few days before her death. Survivors include her husband of Springfield; her parents of San Antonio; a grandmother, Mary Louise Guion of South Carolina; two sons, Augustus Loftin and Levi Anderson, both of Springfield; two daughters, Jane Bruce Loftin of Springfield and Hanna Anderson of Salem, Oregon; two sisters, Catherine Bermea of San Antonio and Rebecca Ames of Dallas; and one grandson. Burial was at Springfield Memorial Gardens in Springfield, Oregon.
