Ron Ronnie Wilcut

Obituary

June 25, 1948  -  September 28, 2021

Ronald “Ron” Everett Wilcut was born on June 25th, 1948, to Warren Wilcut and Hallie May Kirby in San Antonio, Texas. He passed away in San Antonio, Texas on September 28th, 2021 after a short battle with cancer.

Ron grew up in San Antonio. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1969 and fought in the Vietnam War. After serving in the Army, he went on to study architecture at San Antonio College and the University of Texas at Austin. He worked in the construction business for over 40 years, including owning his own design and build business, Wilcut Construction.

Ron met his beloved wife Cheryl Faye Grell at Randy’s Rodeo in San Antonio, Texas in 1970. They were married in 1971 and celebrated 50 years of marriage this year. Ron enjoyed woodworking, hunting, and working on the family property in Hondo, Texas. He was always doing some sort of project and could rarely be found relaxing. As Cheryl’s health declined in the last few years, Ron served as her caretaker. He took pride in caring for Cheryl’s needs and wouldn’t have had it any other way. He was also very proud of his two daughters and five grandchildren.

Ron was preceded in death by his father and mother, Warren and Hallie; sister, Mary Ann Busch; brothers, Warren, Richard, and Harold Wilcut.

Ron is survived by his wife, Cheryl Wilcut; his daughters Michelle McCoy and husband Chris, Denise Worrell and husband Cory; grandchildren Gavin, Lauren, and Camryn McCoy, and Audrey and Cash Worrell; cousin Harry Geyer, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

There will be a celebration of life on Monday, October 18, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. Pastor Charles DeHaven will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, family suggest memorials to be made to American Cancer Society.
