Randy Carroll

July 20, 1946 - March 15, 1998

Thomas Randall “Randy” Carroll

Randy was born at Barksdale AFB, Louisiana, the only child of Eris and Wayne Carroll.  Following graduation from Lee, Randy attended Southwest Texas State in San Marcos and received his degree.  For much of his life, Randy published a self-help magazine.

Randy married in 1972 in Dallas and had four children, two girls and two boys.  He also had five  grandchildren.  He enjoyed hunting at his mother’s family ranch between Tarpley and Utopia and also enjoyed fishing trips to the coast.

His mother Eris, who is now 90, describes him as a very loving and caring person.  He brought her lunch every day at her work and even looked after an elderly friend of his mother’s.  “He was unbelievable,” says his mother.

Randy’s death came suddenly.  He began feeling ill and went to the medical center where he underwent three heart surgeries with six bypasses.  He never woke up from his surgery and passed away ten days later.

I am so sad to hear that Randy is no longer here adding joy to someone's day. He was silly, crazy and always fun. We were friends at Lee and at SWT. He was interested in photography and took pictures for us at our wedding. He was a great photographer, but as the evening progressed some of the pictures were a little out of focus, as most of us were.

Does anyone have any history on him. I'm sorry to say we didn't keep in touch. When I see his picture, I smile.
