I don't know if I met Klaas on his first day at Lee, but i do know it was soon after he joined our class.  So many of us had long histories as schoolmates that it was often difficult for new sudents to assimilate, but it seemed easy for Klaas.  We cut up, joked about everything.  He had a great sense of humor, a ready laugh and a gentle spirit.  I loved seeing him at our reunion and I'm sorry to learn of his passing. He will be remembered fondly by this old friend.

For so many ways our school/class was TOO big. I did love all of the others moving around in the halls and the noise of happy students seeing each other in the halls at class change, BUT I really miss knowing someone that I actually went to school with, in the same grade, and just remember the face and not anything about the person. I feel sad that someone that I should have known has passed away and I only remember the face and nothing else. Surely I didn't have classes with him or I would have remembered more about him! I am hoping that it wasn't just me and I didn't take time to visit with more of our classmates. In all accounts, I wish I would have had the oppertunity to have become a closer friend with all that I shared the class with.

May Klaas rest in peace and he will have no more pain and will now be with God again. My love and thoughts for his family and prayers that they heal from any grief they might be burdened with. jh
