Today I am so sad.  Like many of you I'm sure, there are certain friends I am really hoping to see at the reunion, and  Rick was for me one of those people.  His family moved next door to us on Rector at some time during high school, but I don't think I've seen him since we graduated.  Then this was posted today, and I see he passed away in 2014.  Does anyone have any more information?  When (recently?)?  Where?  How?

Okay, I just visited the Home Page and saw the info about Rick's service.  Thank you for posting that.  My condolences and prayers go out to Rick's family.

I see where Rick's memorial information is posted on the home page. I will post more here when I hear from his sister. Rick was a good friend during high school but became a much closer friend after college. He was in Austin then getting an MBA, as was I - although I never finished, and proved an incredibly good friend when I came back from basic training and went through a divorce. Later we both lived in NYC at the same time and became closer. Interestingly enough a few of us were in NYC at the same time. By the time Rick was in his early 30s I think that he was the biggest buyer of denim in the world and introduced the world to the stitched back pocket on jeans. At a Texas get together at a village watering hole in NYC he was badly beaten, went into a coma for a few days and returned to Texas not long afterwards where he soon left the fasion industry, worked for the state and recently retired in Houston. He was in assisted living after suffering two strokes. I unfortuantely lost track of Rick after he moved to Houston and had re-established contact with him, thanks to this website, only shortly before he passed away.

Richard, thank you for all that information!  That fills in some holes.  I learned from the funeral home website that his full name was LLOYD HIRAM MCALPINE, JR.  (I THINK I'm remembering that'right...it was two days ago when I looked.)

I remember Rick as a really nice person. I was only at Lee for my senior year and didn't know many people well, but I got to know him a little better after high  school. I'm really sorry he had such bad health problems recently. He's one classmate I would have liked to meet again.
