Gerry Wallace Braunstein

In 1968 Gerry married Laura Hopkins, a Lee graduate of 1965. He and Laura were married for 23 years before divorcing and spent all their married life in Birmingham, Alabama.  Gerry graduated from Samford University in Birmingham with a degree in business and was involved in investment banking as his career.  Laura says that Gerry never served in the military as he suffered a knee injury while playing football at Lee.

Together Gerry and Laura had two children Brandi and Gavin.  Brandi lives in Birmingham, and Gavin works for the Department of Defense and lives in Virginia.  As far as hobbies, Gerry enjoyed playing golf and worked on building a boat.   He had remarried at the time of his death.

Laura says that Gerry suffered from various illnesses including heart trouble and passed away from natural causes in 1999 at the age of 53.

Gerry’s twin sister Julie is also in the Class of ‘64 and lives in Elm, Pennsylvania.  He is also survived by another brother and sister who live in the San Antonio area.
