Margaret Beitel (Pace)

Margaret Beitel (Pace)

Margaret Beitel passed away on March 23, 2019 in Houston. Her son provided the following copy of the obituary and memorial announcement.

With deep sadness we announce the passing of Thomas H. Pace and Margaret A. Pace, our loving and devoted parents and friends to all whose lives they touched. Our parents did everything together and everyone that knew them, knew they couldn’t live without each other.  Our father passed away peacefully in his sleep on February 23rd, 2019 and our mother passed away peacefully in her sleep 30 days later on March 23rd, 2019.

Mom and Dad met in college at Texas Christian University and married as soon as they graduated.  Throughout the years they became best friends and were everything to each other.  Dad was a U. S. Marine who served in the Vietnam War, earned a Bronze Star, and was wounded while serving.  Mom was a devoted teacher who educated thousands of students and touched thousands more lives.  Once retired, Mom and Dad were inseparable.  They played golf together for several years.  They fell in love with SCUBA diving and became certified divers, Divemasters, as well as SCUBA Diver instructors, and dived in various places in the Caribbean’s for many years. Dad was an incredible Marine, Husband, Father and Friend.  Mom was an amazing Teacher, Wife, Mother and Friend. They were the best parents we could ask for, always providing, inspiring and supporting their family.

Margaret and Thomas Pace are survived by their son and his wife, Todd and Kim, their daughter and her husband, Brandy and John Klafka, their two grandchildren, Mason and Morgan and their loving Siamese cat Cleo.

Admin Note: In a conversation with Margaret's son I came to fully understand that Margaret's passing so soon after her husband is explained by the loving relationship described in the obituary.

Margaret was a wonderful person in high school and a close friend of mine, though we didn't keep in touch after high school. I have very fond memories of her. I'm so glad to hear that she had a good life, full of love, an enduring romance, children who appreciated her, and students who had the opportunity to know her.

Thank you, Todd, for posting this memorial.

Margaret and I were classmates and neighbors in Hollywood Park. While we were not particularly close, she gave me a big favor in my first years at Mac. I had my beginers drivers license but had to have a fully licensed driver with me. I needed a car to manage my after school sports schedule and Margaret agreed to ride to school with me so I could take my own car. Car is a bit of an exageration as it was my Dad's red Army Jeep with side curtains and no doors. In the Winter it could be quite cold and uncomfortable but Margaret was kind enough to help me out. I did not keep up with her after High School, but it is no surprise she turned out to be such an admirable person. She was kind to me in a way I have remembered for goimg on 60 years.

I am glad to know more about Maggie.  I will always remember her as one of the smartest people I knew.  Even though we both went to TCU, we were not closely connected there, which now makes me sad.  She was part of my/our lives and I respect her so much.  I'm glad she had a fulfilling life

I remember Margaret having such a vibrant personality and cheerfulness about her. So sad for her family to have lost them both within a month.  My condolences to her family.

All of those who loved Margaret:

I'm so happy to hear about her fantastic family and love- of -her- life . Margaret and I were in

Girl Scouts together for many years - we all kept trying to grow up - thank God we didn't,

fully. I have such wonderful memories of her at campouts, cooking over open fires, a

zillion slumber parties in Hollywood Park, and dances almost every weekend during Grade 7 .

Am so glad she became a teacher as she was an academic student, even from the early days.

thanks for sharing data re: her life

With Love

Victoria (Vicki) Kahn
