Janice Ilene Maberry went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Feb. 7, 2008, surrounded by her family and friends.
Memorial service: 2 p.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church, Alvarado.
Memorials: First United Methodist Church of Alvarado Choir Fund or Youth Fund.
Ilene was born March 13, 1945, in Stephenville. She graduated from Tarleton State University in 1969 with a bachelor's degree in history and elementary education and later received her master's degree through Tarleton State University. She taught math and social studies for the Alvarado school district for 38 years. She touched the lives of thousands of children.
Ilene loved music and was the choir director at First United Methodist Church in Alvarado for many years. She was a very active church member and will be greatly missed. Ilene loved to travel and lived in the Panama Canal Zone and the Philippines. She loved to garden and was a member of the Alvarado Garden Club.
She was preceded in death by her father, Col. J.W. Maberry; brother, John William Maberry; and grandparents, Earnest and Minnie Pearl Watson and John and Opal Maberry.
Survivors: Her mother, Frances Maberry; many uncles, aunts and cousins; and a host of former students and friends.
