San Diego, Texas - Javier M."El Gavilan" Perez, 61, passed away Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at his residence after battling cancer for over 2 yrs. He was a graduate of San Diego High School Class of 1969 and an All District Basketball and All District Football player.Javier had worked for Ruben Montemayor for 17 years in San Antonio, Texas as an investigator for attorneys. He later moved back to San Diego and worked in the oilfield for Flournoy and Neighbors as a driller. Recently he was the owner of Liberty Bails Bonds and Investigations company for several years. He is preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Perez and his father, Fidel Perez. He is survived by his mother, Zenaida Montemayor of San Diego, Texas, his companion and caregiver, Berta Garza of San Diego, Texas, two sons, Javier Mario "J.M." Perez of Valverde, Texas and John Barasa of McAllen, Texas, one daughter, Laura Lopez of McAllen, Texas and five grandchildren, Mason Robert Perez, Kason Javier Perez, Jaydon, Brandon and Kike Chapa, numerous cousins, uncles and aunts. May he rest in peace.  His classmates will miss him.
