Written By: Lance Castillo ~ Thank you Lance for taking the time to share your memories of Farhad with us....

As for the people that remember Farhad, he came from Iran, I believe as a Sophmore. He didn't speak English very well so he really kept to himself for the first year. My brother and I became friends with him shortly after, even though it was hard to understand him, he had a wonderful sense of humor.

He emphasized that school was most important to him because he wanted to pursue flight school as a fighter pilot. After graduating high school Farhad, Lyle and myself moved into an apartment for about 6 months. Farhad was attending Mt. Sac along with working full time at his uncle's gas station as a cashier.

Shortly after living with him he started to express that he didn't think he would be able to accomplish his dreams and their was no hope for him to live on. We told him that there were so many jobs out there to choose from and not to be talking so rediculous! He would then cheer up and say "I'm just kidding, I couldn't follow through with it.." This surfaced about 6 or 7 times, but it seemed at the time there was nothing to really worry about since he made it out to be a joke afterwards.

Farhad decided to move back to his parent's to save money for further schooling. Farhad started attending a Bible Study that we encouraged him to go to. He found Christ during that time. I started to witness Farhad being happier and more satisfied with life.

He continued school where he met a girl from Iran as well. They fell very much in love with each other and they seem to have gotten along pretty well. My contacts with Farhad had decreased do to his relationship with her. I remember hearing him tell me his parents weren't excited about her and when time came his girlfriend decided to leave him for someone else.

At this particular time in his life no one really knew what was stirring up inside, including his parents. I believe Farhad is in the presence of our living God! And I hope that the people that knew him will remember him with joy!

Unfortunately, no pics of Farhad have surfaced, only great memories. He was sent here by his parents in Iran in hopes to having a better life. I distinctively remember him turning to me for help in our english class that we had together. I hesitated at first with uncertainty about my own grade. LOL. It was not long before he began to excel in every subject and the tables were soon turned.
Lance, Murtaza, and I have had memorable times during and after high school with Farhad. He was the most selfless and generous person I had ever known. Farhad often shared with me his profound desire to become a commercial pilot. After high school he went on to pursue his passion in aviation.
When I learned of his death, I was deeply saddened. For the short time he was here with us, he was an inspiration for many. Until we meet again my friend, you will be greatly missed.

God Bless,
Lyle
