After graduation from SDHS, Kristin attended U.C. Irvine and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology.  While at UCI, she was very involved in Flying Samaritans and went to Mexico every month to volunteer in a clinic in a very poor village.  She loved the patients and thoroughly enjoyed going there.  She was also involved in many other volunteer organizations at UCI. Her goal was to become a doctor and she traveled to Denver, New York, Philadelphia, and Chicago for medical school interviews.

Unfortunately, about three years after she graduated from UCI, she developed complications of diabetes which caused her to lose most of her vision and have severe nerve damage, which caused her a tremendous amount of pain.  She also developed kidney failure from the diabetes and had been on dialysis for a year-and-a-half and was very close to the top of the list for a kidney/pancreas transplant.  She was always very brave and never lost her sweet disposition or sense of humor.  She was a very caring and loving person.

Kristin is survived by her husband, Woody Steves, her parents, Dennis and Gayle Kemper of San Dimas and her brother, Erik Kemper, also of San Dimas.  She was predeceased by her brother, Brian Kemper (SDHS class of 1991).

She died November 8, 2007 and was waiting for a kidney/pancreas transplant. Kristin was 36 when she died.

I remember being in classes with Kristin. She was a very sweet girl and a great friend. She will definately be missed at the reunion. My thoughts and prayers are with her and her family.

I have recently talked to Kristin's mother, Gayle, and she was very thankful for everyone's thoughts and prayers. She has read the messages from all of you.

We had a couple of classes and laughs together. I'm sad and my thoughts go to all those she has touched.

Kristen was the first girl I met after I moved to San Dimas in the 1st grade and was sat next to her in Mrs. Kennedy's class. Our paths would continuously cross all throughout school and we enjoyed many activities together. She was funny, smart, and a great friend. It always saddened me that after High School that we lost touch. And now it is with even greater sadness that I say Goodbye not only to the the first girl I met in San Dimas but one I will always be honored to share my name with. Rest Peacfully My Friend!

I will always remember Kristen. She was so funny, and made me laugh during class, and on the bus home from school. I have a lot of memories with Kristen, Jason Carr, and Jett from English class.

Rest in peace Kristen, you're in a better place now.
