Written by Jackie's sister, Kerry Smith:
"My sister, Jackie, was a kind giving soul brought up by wonderful parents and we will miss her and will always remember her. Jackie fought a tough battle with cancer and tried so hard to live."
Jackie was one of my oldest friends, ever since 2nd grade at McKinley. We reconnected a few years back. Although she is gone, she will live forever in our hearts.
Jackie may have been my best friend. She went camping with my family and we enjoyed horsebacking riding. Wonderful memories. Still use her sweet and sour meatballs recipe.
Jackie was in our wedding in 1970. I am so thankful we were able to visit her at her home in Henderson a few years ago. It was the same old Jakie, sly sense of humor.
My sincere condolences to Jackie's family and friends. What I remember most about her during our McKinley and Girl Scout days is that she was kind and had the biggest smile. Rest in Peace Jackie.
I met Jackie during 7th and 8th grade Social Dancing. We became good friends in High School, having Choreo classes together. Such laughter was had! She was always happy, upbeat, funny, and compassionate when I needed a shoulder. Jackie fondly remains in my heart. Love to her family.
The memorial post for Jackie was provided by Ken FaIrlie, an English teacher at SGHS.
I spent 30 years working for the Alhambra School District, first as an English teacher at SGHS in the 60’s, then as a counselor at MKHS until my retirement in 1993. Over those years I was privileged to have come in contact with thousands of students. For one reason or another, there have always been certain students whose electrifying personalities have made a lasting impression on me. One of those students was Jackie Krouch. Her intellectual curiosity, warm personality, and great sense of humor always set a positive tone in my classroom. After I left SGHS in 1970, I never saw Jackie again until one day, 25 years later, a woman came to enroll her teenage daughter in our school. We sort of looked at each other and both of us, shocked at seeing one another again, broke into loud laughter. It was the same Jackie with her effervescent personality. I was so happy to see her one more time-not realizing it would be the last time. I was extremely saddened to read about her passing at such a young age on the SGHS Class of ’69 website. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
