Hello Class of 1980! As some of you know, I am doing an internship at SLHS and received a staff email this morning informing us of Barbara Brown's passing.

Here is the email:

Dear Staff,
It is with sadness that I announce the passing of Barbara Brown this past Sunday.  Many of you knew Barbara who served in many different roles at San Leandro High School.  Barbara was a dean, a history teacher, an activities director, vice principal, and summer school principal for many years.  Without hesitation, Barbara came back numerous times to help us out when we needed her.  Barbara officially retired from the San Leandro Unified School District in 2004.   Among her many wonderful qualities, Barbara loved her students and she loved her work and there is no question that she made a difference in the lives of so many.  I will share information of her memorial service once I learn about what is planned.

Flags will fly at half-staff on Wednesday in Barbara Brown’s  memory.

Dear classmates - it is with a very heavy heart that I am announcing another passing of a dear friend. Colleen Alvarez-Piper passed on yesterday, October 6, 2011.

Please keep her family and friends in your thoughts and prayers.
