Yearly 60's picnic?
Posted Monday, July 16, 2012 10:12 AM

Valley Classmates of '61, '62, '63, '64, '65, etc......

Whew! Finally found my way into the forum arena!

So happy to see everyone's excited about the 50th Reunion in September, but what about the future when there will no longer be 'organized reunions'?

It would be wonderful to get together once a year at Irvine Park or somewhere nearby for a 60's Picnic where our families could be included. How about you? What do you think?

Would you like the idea of getting together more often than five years?

We lose contact so quickly in this mobile age we live in now and how wonderful would it be to just know you could pick up a cooler, a couple of lawn chairs and enjoy each other's company say on the last Saturday in September each year?  It would also be easier for classmates living outside Southern California to plan and join in knowing it would be on the same Saturday each year.

Need another reason? It would include classmates of other 1960 years......I'm sure we all have friends, siblings, spouses, etc. from those years, too!!

We aren't getting any younger, so post your thoughts/ideas here and let's see what happens, okay?

I love the idea of having a picnic at a local park with other 60's era Valley classmates in the future!   Five year intervals sound good to me, although even shorter periods would be acceptable.  This website has been a great way to help me feel connected to my friends from high school; and a relaxed picnic will help sustain that connected feeling.

Hi Lynda,

I like this idea very much--a picnic in an OC park on the last Saturday of Sept.

Glenda,

We want to have a picnic every year (not five years) on a specific day, like the last Saturday in September, so classmates can plan ahead if they want to attend...all it takes is a lunch cooler and a lawn chair with a lot more time to visit each other! The Class of '65 is hosting a Saturday potluck in October at a OC campground and are including other 60's who want to join them. Want to go?

Hugs,

Lynda

Lilian,

Thanks for your response, hope other classmates feel the same way! So we'll see you next year at the picnic if not this year at the reunion.

Hugs,

Lynda

I'd like to see a picnic planned for every year since not everyone would be able to come each year and we'd have a better chance to get together with old classmates.  October might be better for some of us than September, I'd even prefer the spring over the fall.  I'm looking forward to this year's gathering of the class of 65 to celebrate our 65th birthday.  We are welcoming all Valley grads of the 60s.  Hope we see some of you there.
