Rest in peace, dear, sweet, Janey. We grew up on the same block on Shelton Street and I remember playing all day with her when I was little. I am so sad that she is gone now, gone before I could see her again to tell her what a special person she was. Rest in peace, Janey. We will be thinking about you~~
JANEY AND I STAYED FRIENDS FOR MANY YEARS AFTER SCHOOL, SHE WOULD STOP BY MY HOME MANY TIMES TO SAY HI. IT WASNT ALWAYS EASY FOR FRANK AND JANEY BUT THEY ALWAYS CAME OUT ON TOP. AS JR HI STUDENTS WE WOULD GO OVER JANEY HOUSE, EVEN IF SHE WASNT HOME HER MOM WOULD LET US GO SWIMMING IN THE POOL. I WILL MISS HER.
I had the pleasure of getting reacquainted with Janey about 15 years ago and was in touch with her until shortly before she died. She was a breast cancer survivor. She loved her family. Her grandchildren were her world. About the time that we moved to Arizona (eight years ago), she and Frank moved to Nevada. The last time I talked to her she said she was having serious heart problems and was unable to drive or walk very far. We had wanted to connect somewhere between Phoenix and Las Vegas for a chat and a cup of coffee but it never happened. She was a true sweetheart.
A fond memory I have of her is the first time we actually met in person after being reconnected. Our plan was to take our grandchildren and meet at Disneyland. I asked her if she thought I would recognize her or her me. She said, "You'll know me. I'll be the one with the rose in my mouth". I wondered if she would really do that...not having seen her in so long and not really knowing what she was like now. I sat with my little grandchildren waiting and wondering. She found me and we were overjoyed to reconnect...and no, she didn't have a rose in her mouth.
