CYNTHIA M TRUJILLO HERRERA Published: December 31, 2007 Age 37, of Santa Fe, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2007. Born in Santa Fe on April 19, 1970 to Leroy and Beatrice Trujillo, Cynthia was the youngest of nine brothers and sisters. She went by various family nicknames, notably Tinty, Miquela and others. Upon graduation from Santa Fe High in 1988, she began her work career in several financial institutions. She went back to college and received and associates degree from SFCC and began working at Santa Fe Public Schools. Shortly thereafter she began working for State of New Mexico personnel office and also completed her bachelor's degree from College of Santa Fe. Cynthia also completed her Masters degree in December 2006. She was most recently employed with the State Department of Transportation and enjoyed her job and the people she worked with immensely. Cynthia married her beloved husband, Felix on September 22, 2001. She gave birth to her precious daughter, Gianna Cheyenne on July 11, 2007. Diagnosed with cancer at the time of her daughter's birth, Cynthia fought a courageous battle against this horrible disease. Her body succumbed to illness on December 27th and was surrounded by her family. Cynthia is survived by her loving husband, Felix; her "miracle baby", Gianna; her parents, Leroy and Beatrice Trujillo of Las Vegas, NM; her siblings: brothers: Martin and wife Clara, Randy and wife Gina, Mark, and Gerard; sisters: Betty Jean, Rosemary and husband Ron Benavidez, Juanita, Anita and Robert (padrino); mother-in-law, Julia Herrera; sisters-in-law: Valerie and husband Lonnie Trujillo, and Jeanne and husband Leroy Archuleta; nephews and nieces: Robert, Jared, Megan, Dakota (godson), Teresa, Alicia (goddaughter), Amelia, Shawnie, Cannon and unborn baby Jack; numerous uncles and aunts, and other relatives, and a great number of friends also survive her. A Rosary will be recited on Saturday, December 29, 2007, at 7 p.m. at Santa Maria de La Paz Catholic Community. Funeral Services will be at 10 a.m., Monday, December 31, 2007, at Santa Maria de La Paz Catholic Community. The family would like to thank the staff and wonderful nurses who cared for Cynthia at St. Vincent Hospital in Santa Fe, The New Mexico Cancer Center, home health nurses from Presbyterian Medical Services Home Care and in particular Christina Romero. Cynthia was a talented, bright, and thoughtful individual who cared deeply for her family and friends. We will miss her tremendously. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, that donations be made to the St. Vincent Hospital Foundation or the Cancer Institute of New Mexico Foundation.
Cynthia was a good friend of mine. We were friends since our Alameda Junior Highs School days. We were not related but I played YAFL football with one of her brothers "Tiny" and had known her since I was eight years old. She was always the "A" student and had a very good sense of humor. I would run into her occasionaly at work because we both worked for the New Mexico Department of Transportation and we would always stop and talk about the good old days. We always said that we should go on break and have coffee together but we never did. So, if any of you ever get a chance to spend some time with an old classmate do it as soon as possible because none of us are guaranteed tomorrow.
