Rebecca Peden

 

Rebecca Hays Peden, 85, retired teacher and resident of Sheddan Drive, died Friday, December 24, 1999.  The Lincoln County native was the daughter of the late John B. Hays and Minnie Brandon Hays. She was married to John M. "Mack" Peden who died in 1996. She earned her B.S. from Tennessee Tech and taught Home Economics at Santa Fe High School for several years and served as advisor for Future Homemakers of America. She worked as Home Demonstration Extension Agent for the University of Kentucky. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the Maury Regional Hospital Auxiliary.
 
Survivors include one son, John C. (Connie L.) Peden of Smyrna; one sister, Johnnie H. Walker of Columbia; two step-grandsons, Jamie Nunley of Murfreesboro and Jeremy Nunley of Unionville and four step-great-grandchildren, Dallas Keeler, Alex Garrison, Michael Nunley and Iris Keeler.

Connie Batson (White) (1980)

I have very fond memories of Mrs. Peden. She was always supportive and made Home Ec one of my most enjoyable classes - I still love to sew today because of her guidance and influence.
