SANTE FE-Zackary (Zack) Tyler Barker, 18, of Santa Fe, passed away Sunday, Oct. 16, 2011 at Mainland Medical Center in Texas City.

His life is short for many, but those touched by his life understand the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. He had a generous spirit, was full of life and loved by his numerous friends, classmates and family.

He was born Sept. 4, 1993 in Port Lavaca to Grady Earl Barker and Mary Louise O'Neil Barker. Zackary was a senior at Santa Fe High School and was 2 weeks away from joining the U.S. Army. He enjoyed playing Halo with his team, Common Doubt, and was a MLG (Master League Gamer), under the gamer tag A4A. Always quick to give hugs, Zack will be missed by many. His smile, laugh, and good nature brought immense joy to our family and his many friends.

He is survived by his mother, Mary Louise O'Neil of Santa Fe; father, Petty Officer 2nd Class Grady Earl Barker, US Navy, Bagram AFB, Afghanistan and wife, Jodie of Littleton, CO.; grandmothers, Nelda Oleen Cook and Christine O'Neil, grandfather, James Barker, Sr.; sisters, Hailey Barker, Lorilei O'Neil and brother, Dakota Allen Thibodeaux, uncles and aunts, Sean and Dana O'Neil, Jamie and Roxanna O'Neil, Padraic and Andrea O'Neil, Chris Cook and cousins Abby, Caitlin, Shelby, Corinne, Stephanie, and Andrew.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Jim O'Neil.

Zack's life will be remembered at 2 p.m .Saturday, Oct. 22, 2011, Grace Episcopal Church in Port Lavaca with Dr. Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at the Port Lavaca Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Chris Cook, John Garey, Jamie O'Neil, Padraic O'Neil, Sean O'Neil, and Evan Perone.
