Everyone remembers Bruce. He was a character for sure. He tried his own special humor in every situation. I got to know him a bit more during the rehersals of our senior class play, Auntie Mame. He and I both needed an audience so we could make them laugh. I also saw him at his home in Santa Monica, when I came over to take out his sister on dates. She was a grade behind Bruce. Her name is Deborah Downey. She told me that their family was originally from Indianapolis, Indiana. I can't remember anything else to say but I thought since no one else wrote anything about him... I thought I would share my memories. I'm glad I knew him. He was one of the special, fun loving classmates of 1972 Jon Klune
Everyone remembers Bruce Downey - especially the laugh. A very talented and outgoing guy, he made everyone feel at home with him. He was at his best working on the plays that Mr. Gabriel and St. Mo's produced - he was a natural actor and had a real stage presence. I was saddened to hear of his death, even though I had little contact with him after I left high school, it disturbed me more as time went on and I understood better the challenges he was facing in his personal life.
