Got to know Mari much better taking care of her at the hospital late in the process of her unfortunate death from colon cancer than I did in high school. Although very uncomfortable at the end she was sweet and dignified to all - a testament to her spirit and character. A really nice and genuine person for all of the time I knew her, from high school, to her wedding and marriage to Rick and finally at the end. For many years I never saw her except for an unexpected meeting at some odd place - always happy and caring about someone or something. In her memory I must say that I know that one of her lasting wishes is that everyone get tested for cancer - something we all want to hide from but can easily add 20 - 30 years to your life if caught early and painlessly.
