I first met Jim Gutsch in Mr. Larkin's woodworking class in our sophomore year.  Over the next 2-years, watching Jim's skill/artistry with wood was jaw-dropping.  In my opinion, if anyone had an innate skill in woodworking, it was Jim.  Every semester, Jim seemed to breeze through Mr. Larkin's required projects well ahead of anyone else in the class, and while many of us were still working on creating a "square" footstool or a small jewelry box for mom, Jim was well into creating a full-sized, cedar-lined hope chest with intricate inlaid wood patterns on the top and front.  I remember Jim as a great guy with a great sense of humor, and a gift as a friend.  - Mike
