As loss of life continues, I remember young Carl, his deep voice, his friendly "Hi Dons" -- back in the Montgomery halls of '65

Carl was a tuff street savy guy, who was always a nice guy while playing football for MHS. In fact, when we were in Vallejo one night after a loss to a talented football team, Carl said that he wanted to go outside the locker room and even up the score. Coach Reid cancelled that, and we were all escorted back to the bus. Carl would have been the star outside the locker room. Carl, RIP. jim nordstrom

As mentioned, Carl was a tough fighter and afraid of no one.  I remember after a baseball game Carl and another unfortunate person got into a dispute and it was broken up by Coach Mays (also a very tough fighter!!).  Mays asked Carl if he wanted to hit him (Mays), Carl quickly replied with a rather subtle "NO" !!  But we all respected Carl and not one of us mentioned it ever again!!  I am sorry for his loss and will pray that he knew Jesus as his Savior.

Carlos was my friend outside the locker room. He was there to help when he saw I seeded it as I was there for him. We roamed the Haight together and Rock and Rolled together  the last time I saw him we had a drink at the Tradewinds in Cotati, right across the street from The Inn of the Beginning........

It's been mentioned to me that at a Montgomery High Foundation event, several people were happy to reconnect with Carl there. I imagine there were some valued handshakes that day -- this being shortly before Carl had to leave this world.
