A loving, sensitive, incredibly talented person with an unsettled soul. I loved him. Paul was someone to share the deepest things with. After Brasil, we saw each other frequently on the West Coast. Then he settled back in his family origins of Minnesota. Kept in touch off and on. He called periodically and I always got a Christmas card. The last time I saw Paul was in the early 90s when he spent a summer here. I still have the last card I got from him. Then they stopped. He had so much conflict and I feared his life would end this way. I talked to Dan MacDonald last night, who had received the news about Paul. I am saddened. He was a wonderful person. He could never feel settled with himself, but he was always so wonderful with everyone else he touched. He was a great friend. I miss him.
