I met Leon while working backstage on Colby's and Bobbert's plays, where he and Wes Fusher shared the Stage Manager position. Both Leon and his brother Ernie had enormous intellects. Leon was the only person I know that could occasionally beat Vlad in a game of chess. Even though he was a senior, and I was only an eighth grader, he treated me with great respect, took me under his wing, and showed me the ropes (literally, as we tried to make Mark McDonnel's little sister Tina (or was it Martha?) fly in Peter Pan). I still have a mental image of of watching Leon from above, uncharacteristically dancing around on the stage while Dave Sage and I tried to follow him with the backstage follow spots during one of Mrs.Leppingwell's Talent shows. I used to go over to his house after school to talk electronics with him and his brother Ernie. Both the King brothers were very influential in pointing me towards science and physics. I figure I owe my current career to them. Thanks, Leon and Ernie.

Leon was a member of the class of 1968, not the class of 1969, just to clarify. Leon was exceedingly intelligent. He scored 800 on all his SAT exams. His academic skills were envied by everyone. He was also creative with photography. He and Joe Ozdian together took the portrait photos for our yearbook, at least one year, if not two. Leon was accepted to and entered the 6-year Ph.D. program at Cornell University. I wish I knew more about what happened to Leon.
