John Marmaro VIEW PROFILE

John Parker Marmaro

February 9, 1959 – December 11, 2020

John Parker Marmaro, 61, of Spring Hill, FL was born in Bethpage, NY on Feb. 9, 1959 and
quietly stepped into eternity on Dec. 11, 2020.

He graduated from Sarasota High School in 1977 where he achieved many honors
participating in the National Forensic League, High-Q/Categorically Speaking teams, Who’s
Who, and the Steps of Honor. He was also a member of the Key Club, National Honor Society,
Drama club and Sarasotan staff.

He graduated from University of Florida in 1982 and went on to NYC to become an
international banker with Credit Lyonnais. He left NYC and banking due to poor health, but had
many poems published and was a prolific internet reviewer.

A true Renaissance Man, John’s interests and passions were many: art, music, botany,
geography, linguistics, chemistry, cooking, genealogy, poetry, theater, film, gardening to
collecting rare books and plants. John taught himself to read and speak many languages,
including Welsh; in which he wrote both stories and poems to add to those in English; some of
which he published. He was also a self-taught musician and composer; playing piano and
harpsicord and writing many forms of musical compositions, including at least one symphony.
He was noted for his many performances at the Players of Sarasota Theater where he will
always be remembered as Nicely-Nicely in Guys and Dolls. A lifelong lover or all things
growing, John was a collector and expert on Orchids and Cacti.

A gentle giant, John was a big man, tall in stature and big in presence. It was said he
needed to be big to hold his big heart. He loved all he met and was loved by all who met him.

He is survived by his loving parents, Rudolph A. and Betty Marmaro of Spring Hill, his two
brothers, Dr. Jeffrey Marmaro of Sarasota and Rudolph A. Marmaro, Jr. of Colorado Springs, a
sister, Deborah Dayton of Spring Hill and numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and
nephews.
