CONSTANCE DVORKIN OBITUARY

Constance "Connie" Dvorkin of Boulder passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2018. She was 62. Connie, who was born in New York City and attended school and college in that area, was a fiercely independent, empathetic, and kind-hearted woman whose brilliance and wit left indelible marks on many who had the good fortune of knowing her. In 1969 (in only the eighth grade) she penned a frank, funny, and enlightening essay describing her own awakening to feminism and the women's liberation movement. That essay was published, republished, and cited in many books on American history and feminism. Aside from reading, writing, and black coffee over ice, her two greatest loves were her sons Elliot and Nathan, both of whom will miss her dearly. They are forever grateful to her for instilling in them her own lifelong love of books, learning, and thinking creatively. She is also survived by her mother Ruth Turner; sisters Liz Botwin, Kate Dvorkin, and Julia Mastnak; her nephews, her step-mother Nancy Taddiken, and many other members of a large extended family. Her father Spencer, her aunt Judith, and her step-father Larry preceded her. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at Mountain View Memorial Park in Boulder. In lieu of flowers, financial donations can be made to Mental Health Colorado . Visit www.ahlbergfuneralchapel.com to leave condolences.
