"Irene Brody (1973) married Rick Dutka (1973) shortly after college. They enjoyed many happy adventures together, and were blessed by the birth of their two daughters Annie & Zoe. After Rick's death in 1991, Irene went on to get her P.h.D in psychology, ultimately specializing in Asperger's Syndrome. Her work inspired many others in the field, and she was compiling her experience for her first book when she became ill in 2009 and passed away in December, 2010.
Irene & Ricky were two ephemeral souls of extraordinary compassion and creativity. They shared a special spark that inspired all those who came close, and though their lives were taken far too prematurely, their memory is a force in itself- One that is determinedly present in the lives of those who knew them. Their story reminds us that true romance exists and is endless, most especially when a deeply committed love for all living things at its source."
