Josh surprised me and came to New Orleans some years ago.  He was so full of life and we reminisced about our Greenville days.  We went to dinner at 7 and finally left shortly before midnight.  Fastest 5 hours I can recall.  Would appreciate any information that could be provided regarding his passing.

A few tidbits on Josh that many will remember:

The Jamison family home was adjacent to Greenville School (near the band room). The family were sort of the 'de-facto' caretakers of the school during the summer. In the early to mid 60's, I remember Josh's mom yelling for him at Greenville School when she wanted him to come home. She had a formiddable holler and could be heard as far as my house. She wouid literally grab us as we walked into their house. Then march us into their kitchen and wash our hands with green soap. She did the washing. All we did is stood there. Once washed,  we had the run of the place. Talk about a community raising the children. This was it!!! I was 6-10 years old. Also present were: Sarah Gewertz, Gabby Goldschmidt, Monte Keen. Fifty years ago.

Josh took up golf as a kid (on the grounds of Greenville School). Josh broke his arm shortly after taking the sport. I can remember him golfing one armed and stiil hitting them a mile. He was a great athlete with a great arm.

Joshua Logan Jamison is named after Joshua Logan who was a Writer, Producer and Director of major B'way and Hollywood Classics (won 7 Tonys and Directed 6 actors who won Academy Awards). Marshall (Josh's dad) was Josh Logan's  close friend.

Marshall (Josh's dad) was producer of TV's "That Was The Week That Was" (TW Three). It was a mid-60's forerunner of "Jon Stewart". A major show in 60's Television. Woody Allen, Steve Allen Audrey Meadows, et. al were featured.

Josh Jamison was one of 5 kids.

RIP-Joshua Logan Jamison

Bob: Thank you for your memories of Josh, and also of Greenville School. Always one of the Jamison kids was outside of the school, and I too can picture his mom, though vaguely.  I can still remember the smell of Greenville on the very first day each school year, and the sound of the principal's (Mrs. Leonard) footsteps walking down the hall. I used to think that I knew every inch of the playground, spending so much time there even after I moved on to junior high and high school, and then taking my own kids there whenever we visited my parents. It seems like the play ground has diminshed in side with each school expansion.  What a shame.

I will remember Josh next time I am at the playground, and the memories  all us other Greenvillers as well.

Best, Beryl Ann Cowan

To Josh, My Friend

A piece of childhood left me with your passing,
But memories of you are everlasting.
We played baseball in a field by your home,
At Greenville Elementary is where we would roam.

"Double or Nothing" was our game at the time and place,
Our challenge was to hit and run safely to a tree at second base.
The school path on our left we called out of bounds,
For any ball that rolled past the swings, we would all make the rounds.

Your mother, Mrs. Jamison, red-haired and oh so sweet,
Always prepared great lunches with plenty of treats.
Five children she loved and protected with great care,
But in her house, all shoes came off -- why risk her glare?

We went on to high school and eventually parted ways,
Our ball field today is a cement playground they say.
Fifty years have passed since we met in third grade,
Josh, I will think of you often on Class Reunion Day.
