Port Charlotte, FL - Elaine Hope (MacGathan) Miakisz passed away in Port Charlotte, Fla. following late stage Lyme disease which led to frontal temporal dementia. Born in Schenectady, New York to Deputy Fire Chief Richard B. MacGathan and Aase MacGathan (Bastian). Her father was Scottish and her mother Norwegian.
Elaine graduated from Linton High School in 1967. She married her husband John that same year. In 1984 the couple moved to Derry, NH where they lived until January 2017. She was a dental assistant in Methuen for 23 years at Dr. Hassey's Dental Associates on Milk Street. She was a Christian for 47 years sharing her faith with her husband, a minister.
She is survived by her husband John, her sister Elizabeth Shannon, two daughters; Shireen Perrault and Jennifer Johnson and a son, Nathan Miakisz. She is also survived by six grandchildren; Janelle, Marissa, Kaylah, Austen, Christian, and Alyssa. Elaine and her husband John were married for almost 51 years.
