In Memory

Antoinette Nicotera (Zemeck)

Toni Zemeck, 69 years old, of Niskayuna, NY, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2018 after a long illness surrounded by her loving family.Toni was born in Niskayuna, NY to Frank and Florence Nicotera. She was a Graduate of Linton High School Class of 1967. She operated consignment and boutique shops as a sole proprietor for many years and was a creator of soft sculptured doll art.She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Edward. Her children, Heather and Matthew. Her siblings, Nancy (Delfis Edward) Bordeau and Frank Nicotera. Also, several nieces and nephews.Toni was a doll artist. Her soft sculptured dolls were the embodiment of her creative passions. Her work was infused with her essence and flair through the use of fabric and color. Her unique creations sparked a connection with admirers as they were an expression of the sparkle of her inner spirit. As a true artist, Toni put something of herself into all her creations. As a true friend, sister, mother, wife Toni unselfishly put something of herself into all her relationships. To her friends and relatives she was; "the sister I got to choose", "the strongest woman I have ever known", "the most wonderful lady". A breast cancer survivor who never gave up.To her younger brother and older sister, Toni was the middle child. As the notorious middle child she was the central leader in their youthful pranks and escapades. In their life forming encounters she was their centering voice of calm and direction. To her children she was the rock you cling to in a storm and the one who provided them with lifelong compassion, nurturing, and love. To her husband she was the one and only love of his life. They fell in love at the Junior Prom and thereafter they lived and loved everything together, hand in hand, for over 50 mortal years and forevermore into eternity.Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral which will begin Monday, July 2 at 10:15 a.m. at the Gleason Funeral Home and at 11 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be Sunday from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.Burial will be in St. Anthony's Cemetery, Glenville.Memorial contributions may be made to a cause or charity of your choice.

Hello LHS Class of 1967,

Our classmate Ed Zemeck re-discovered this poem that Toni gave to him on their wedding day.  He has asked that I post it on the website to share with their LHS '67 classmates.
