Memories & Candles

SCHENECTADY - Vincent A. Aceto, "Vinnie" 66, of Union St.died Wednesday morning at his residence.
Vinnie was born in Schenectady and for 35 years worked for Price Chopper. Vin retired in 2013 after 35 years of service, he was a happy go lucky guy with a dry sense of humor who loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Vin's favorite thing was getting everyone together and enjoying a great meal with raucous conversation. Those who knew and loved him will miss himterribly; there is less joy in the world without him. The last few years his health declined, yet he still always had a smile, a joke and always managed to make everyone around him laugh. He had a remarkably dry wit and never once complained or dwelled on what he was going through. The last year of his life, Vinnie lived at Brookdale Senior living where he was a favorite of the staff and so many fellow residents. Everyone loved him.
He was pre-deceased by his parents, Vincent P. Aceto and Jean DeLuke- Aceto and his wife, Donna Barber Aceto
Survivors include his children, Lori Aceto Garcia (Blake) of South Carolina, Kimberly Aceto, also of South Carolina, and Vinnie Aceto (Kayla) of Schenectady. Vin's younger brother, Dickie (Lou Ann) Aceto of Niskayuna and his sister, Philomena (Dawn) Aceto also live in Schenectady.
Vin is also survived by two-step children, John Barber (Jodi) and Courtney Barber both of Schenectady along with 5 grandchildren and 4- step grandchildren along with many aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to Vin's nurse Diana Christine and all the team at Schenectady Hospice and to Doctor Kim Poli his Cardiologist, who managed his care brilliantly and showed him the utmost compassion. The family would also like to thank Alice Simard and Doreen Adams for your loving care of Vinnie in these last few weeks.
There will be a celebration of life for Vinnie at Rossi &Ditoro Funeral Home on Sunday November 19 from 2-6 PM.
Vinnie will be interred on Tuesday alongside his father at St. Anthony's cemetery.
In Lieu of flowers, donations in Vinnie's name may be made to Community Hospice of Schenectady.
