Denise Lombardi Ausborn

BURNT HILLS Denise Lombardi Ausborn, 51, of Evergreen Court, Burnt Hills, died suddenly Sunday, January 5, 2003 at St. Claires Hospital, after being stricken at home. Born April 8, 1951 in Schenectady, she was a lifelong resident of the Capital District. She was a graduate of Linton High School, Schenectady, Russell Sage College and Union College. With deep regret, we announce the passing of Denise Lombardi Ausborn. She started her career as a high school English teacher at Shaker High School. Following a career change, she distinguished herself within the NYS Division of Youth in the field of education and vocational programming. She most recently served as a Director of Workforce Development for Children and Family Services. She was the first woman firefighter for the Vischers Ferry Volunteer Fire Department. She also served on numerous board of directors, including NYS Division for Youth, Commission for Adults and Youth Services. She was an advocate for animals and animal rights. She was admired, emulated and loved by all. She is survived by her beloved husband, Roland (Ed) Ausborn, whom she married June 1996; her mother, Amelia Lombardi; her brother, Gary L. Lombardi; her sister, Marisa Lombardi Doherty; uncles; aunts; cousins; nieces and nephews. Funeral service Wednesday morning at 9:00 at St. John the Evangelist Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours Tuesday evening 4 to 8 p.m. at the Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan Street, Schenectady. Burial, St. Anthonys Cemetery, Glenville. Contributions may be made to Lombardi Memorial Scholarship Fund at Siena College, Loudonville, NY 12211, Schenectady Humane Society, Maple Avenue.
