Jeff and I were best buddies! We rode our Honda mini-bikes together, hung out, spent the night together and watched tv all night long.
I had the priviledge of showing Jeff Romans 10:9-10 in the bible and prayed with him to ask Christ into his heart. Weeks passed and Jeff said "I want you to baptize me". I was just a kid and said that I couldn't, but he insisted. I went to my pastor Bill Kimbel (father of Kim Kimbel who dated Clark Daniels)and he said I should do it! As unorthodox as it was, Clark, Kim, Jeff and I went to the church, filled the baptismal with ICE COLD WATER, and I baptized Jeff. When we came out of the water we had such a warm feeling like God was all over us, then we realized the water was just soooo coooold that the warm air contrast made us think we were having a super-spiritual experience. LOL
When he had the motorcycle accident, I went to St. Louis to see him in the hospital and his parents and grandparents greeted me with hugs and thanks for baptizing Jeff and our friendship. The next day they took him off of life support since there was no brain activity. I know you all remember the funeral. I had the priveledge of writing a poem which was published in our yearbook and I got to play the piano at the funeral which was a big honor.
Weeks went by and I went and visited Jeff's mom and dad. They gave me the cross that I had given Jeff to hang in his room (mostly to ward off vampires cause we watched alot of vampire movies together). They showed me his bible which had the verses Romans 10:9-10 highlighted in yellow. What a privelege to Know Jeff, he was a cool Kid, warmhearted, welcoming and fun loving. I'm so glad I got to be his friend and I'll get to see him again in heaven for all eternity!
