Going back to the earlier comments about "faith" and "proof" - With all due respect to everyone's beliefs, and at the risk of starting another melee here on the message forum, I'll comment...
Faith is a great concept, but living life without proof may be considered by some as ignorant bliss. This goes beyond spiritual matters. That said, each person's faith and proof are that person's own decision. To each, his (or her) own!
I'll stand back now and protect my face...

Larry, (with total respect for you)

You might want to "look at a flagellum".....

It might change your life.

"seek...and you shall find"......

"don't seek.....and you will not find".

Hey ladies,

I dont' know if this does anything for you, but,....I just so happen to be a "Schizo/Aut....with ADHD!

Robert,
Look at a flagellum... Hey are you coming to the meeting tonight?? Call me.

Cayce Evans (Newton)

Ohhh Chipper - you pot stirrer you....

The beautiful thing about Faith is you can believe without seeing. Kind of like the whole "earth is flat" concept.

The world would be pretty flat without the hope that Faith can bring. I am a pretty literal minded person and have trouble with the idea of God and Christ and I needed proof in order to believe. But when I gave my heart over to my Faith and just decided to stop being stubborn and embrace it I find I can still live my life in reality.

Just because I can't see it, doesn't mean it isn't there.

Lisa,
Rainman?

Larry Clauss

Robert - flagellum back at ya!
Cayce - no pot stirring, just thought provoking. There's two sides to everything, sometimes more.
Lisa - You called me Larry! That's a first. I had faith!
Shane - You've been quiet. Did you fire another client or something?!

P.S.: Mimi, I didn't forget about you. I'm happy to hear of anything that truly makes life worth living for folks out there. It may not be for the next guy, but if it works for you, that's totally cool!

OK....I'm done....
One last question.
If evolution is a line, and that line demonstrates a gradual "curve"....of "evolvement".

Evolution: A gradual process in which something changes or develops into a more complex, form.

Riddle me this!

If we "evolved" chipper...we should be at a point, where as, our brains should be functioning at full capacity.

Maximum....."ready to mutate forward".

But not so, you will find "if you seek"...that those skilled in the art of "brain function"...will readily admit that we as humans, are only using 10% of our brains capability. (it is common knowledge)

The "theory of evolution" can not "theorize" the answer
to the question.

Why do we all have "brians" that are far more "advanced" than what we need?

Robert Lacivita

Cayce,
did you mean "literal".....or "liberal?"

Just check'n.:)

Living life only when there is proof is not living, it is responding to the situation. When we trust, by putting our faith in something... GOD is this case... we LIVE with the HOPE of the promise of something better!!

I don't think you daredevil motorcycle guys only ride on flat pavement... there is the thrill of not knowing what is next around the corner.

It is the same with life as a whole. We live by faith... otherwise GOD and HEAVEN would be taken for granted... and become like that flat piece of highway.

If we understood it all... there would be no need for faith... and no Life to Live or to look forward to.

As Casey said... just because we don't see it... does not mean it does not excist!!

Robert,
Gotta admit I'm both liberal and literal.

It's a problem in my church sometimes that I consider myself a liberal Christian. But I try to think of myself as open-minded and non-judgemental. I figure there is only one who is fit to judge and it ain't me! Fortunately I'm Presbyterian (or as our family calls it "Catholic Lite" LOL) most of us are a tolerant bunch.

Your evolution question reminds me of a 6th grade paper my daughter had to right entitled "Why the Theory of Evolution is False" She attends a Christian school and they are VERY serious about this. I encouraged her to write in debate format with the Pro and the Con stance. Fortunately her teacher was open minded as well and she earned an A.

Andy,
Beautifully stated.

Casey...
You can take the WORD Literally... which is to Love Liberally!!

One of the more interesting features of this website... keeping track of all the career changes for Shane Hamilton. Who is your agent??

Dave Dirren

Andy - Very well put! (re: comment #971)

Something I heard a pastor say one time about faith:

"You cannot see the wind but you can see the effects of the wind. You see trees moving, that is an effect of wind. So you "believe" there is wind because of this. Faith is the same, you cannot see it, but you can see the effect of faith in people who believe". Faith moves people like the wind moves trees!

That about sums it up for me!

Lisa Stephens

Dave,
I heard those same words on a Carman (Christian artist) CD..during the song there is a clip of someone talking about not being able to see the wind, just the effects of the wind. So by faith we know it's there. This is the same as seeing a change or a miracle is a persons life who has faith.

Happy Hour today at Zipps.... Miller & Camelback

04/24/09 03:42 PM #850

Dave Dirren

Lisa - that may be where I heard it. I've actually seen Carman in a live concert. He puts on quite the show with live animals on stage. All I know is it was a clear analogy that stuck in my head.

The 'wind' story is actually a Billy Graham illustration. It has been used very well to explain faith. The voice your heard was probably his.

04/24/09 04:44 PM #852

Lisa Stephens

Dave,
Yeah, that analogy stuck with me too. I saw Carmen in concert in AZ. It must have been...around 1997. It was in the newer coliseum in Phoenix (what's the name?) It was really good.

Referencing #968:

Robert asked: "If we 'evolved' ...we should be at a point, where as, our brains should be functioning at full capacity."

Response: With all sincere respect my friend - who determined that we are done changing and/ or evolving? What if the process isn't complete yet? Regardless of what school of thought you follow, we as humans have a long way to go! I suspect we're not done yet! Check back in a 10 or 20 thousand years...

Robert then asked: "Why do we all have "brians" that are far more "advanced" than what we need?"

Response: See first response above.

P.S.: Robert – Flagellum is an amazing little critter/ mechanism, much like many other wonders of the world :-)

Shane: Your "client firing" sounds like a mess. I suppose you have to cut your loses and move on at some point, as you did. I have several friends in real estate and they have similar stories.

04/24/09 06:10 PM #855

Andy McClure

Shane...

A great way to get over the firing of a client... do it again and now the first one doesn't feel so bad.

I volunteer, since I live almost 1000 miles from Scottsdale...it doesn't have to be so personal and drawn out!!

I want to buy a house... oh, never mind, what you showed me didn't have space for my FLAGELLUM!!... fire me!!
