The following was written by her husband, Joel Hugley:

Born to Vi Swapp and Charlie Vesper. Adopted into the family of Don and VeElla Becchetti. Joined by sister Brenda soon after, the Becchettis settled in Phoenix to raise their daughters.  At a young age Donna developed a passion for reading books and playing music. These interests were nurtured at home and at Scottsdale Arcadia High school where Donna played percussion in Band and Graduated in 1969. Donna attended Arizona State University. She graduated with a BFA in interior design which proved to be Donna's calling in life providing a long and accomplished career. In between design jobs, Donna's love for driving and road trips led her to acquiring her commercial driver's license and hauling freight by tractor trailer across the country. Photography, art, gardening and cooking helped to round out many of Donna's hobbies and areas of study. After retiring Donna found an interest in urban development and sat on the Wheat Ridge Planning Commission where she had resided in Colorado. Throughout her life, Donna had been a fierce advocate for Women's rights and equality and always a champion for victims of social injustice and an enemy to corporate greed. After many years with a diagnosis of cancer the disease did kill Donna at the age of 67 taking from our midst one hell of a remarkable and intelligent woman not to mention a wonderful wife and loving sister and friend to many. Donna is survived by husband Joel Hugley and sisters Brenda (Dan) Wyatt, Laura Levering, Sharon Anderson and Gini (Barry) Dower. A Celebration of Donna's life will be held on Saturday June 9th starting at 2:00 PM at the Arvada VFW Post located at 5340 Marshall St. Arvada Colorado.

Donna was a neighbor during grade school.  Our nieghborhood was on the "border" of Scottsdale High and Arcadia High, so kids in our neighborhood got to choose which one to attend.  And some attended one or more in each school!  So, sometimes it is hard to remember/realize who graduated from where!

I always enjoyed Donna and was happy to have some contact with her in the past few years via phone.  I always remember her smiling.  I had no idea she was adopted, nor that she had 3 sisters.  Funny how we can feel so close to someone and yet not really know them at all.....or perhaps we know what part of them we are supposed to, leaving additional parts of them to others.

I was saddened to hear of Donna's passing earlier this year. I can still hear her laugh in our last phone call even more than a year ago.  Enjoy the rest of the journey, Donna, and leave some crumbs for me to follow because I want to know more about you.  Thank you for your life here and your time with me.  K
