Thomas Kingsley

Thomas Joseph Kingsley, 66, of Old Forge, died Friday under the care of the VNA Hospice Unit of Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton.

Born Oct. 17, 1947, in Scranton, son of Hilda Fritzen Kingsley, with whom he resided, and the late Robert Kingsley Sr., Thomas graduated from Scranton Central High School, class of 1965. A 1970 graduate of Kutztown University, earning a degree in education, he served as class president for both his junior and senior years. For more than 35 years, he taught art and photography at West Scranton High School, a position he always cherished having, made many lasting friendships and impacted many lives throughout his tenure. He always enjoyed spending time with his fellow retired teachers at their monthly lunch.

He was very active in numerous volunteer and philanthropic organizations, including the Lackawanna County Historical Society, Genealogical Society of PA and the Lackawaxen Sanctuary. Of Roman Catholic faith, he was a member of St. Patrick's Parish in West Scranton.

A caring and loving son, brother, uncle, nephew and friend, he will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

He is also survived by his siblings, Marge Orr, Taylor; Robert Kingsley Jr. and wife, Frances, Lake Ariel; and Susan Christensen and husband, David, Nicholson; an aunt, an uncle and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.

The funeral will be Monday at 12:30 p.m. from the Kevin K. Kearney Funeral Home Inc., 125 N. Main Ave., Scranton, with Mass of Christian Burial at 1 in the Immaculate Heart of Mary Chapel, 1605 Oram St., Scranton. Entombment, Cathedral Cemetery Mausoleum.
