Anthony M. "Tony" Kniolek, 63, of Scranton, died Saturday at Hospice Community Care. He would have celebrated 40 years of marriage on Sunday to his soulmate and best friend, the former Susan Evans.
Born June 20, 1947, in Scranton, he was the son of the late Anthony P. and Mary Rudik Kniolek. Tony was a 1965 graduate of Scranton Central High School, attended the University of Scranton and was a Marine Corps veteran, serving in Vietnam. He loved his crimson and gold. Until his illness, he was employed by PA Hutchison, Mayfield, and was formerly employed by Haddon Craftsmen for 30 years. Tony enjoyed working in his yard and around his house, and he could fix almost anything. His life was dedicated to his family. His children and grandchildren were the spotlights of his life. He was a wonderful and generous husband, father and grandfather who will be sadly missed by all who knew him. He passed away surrounded by family and friends.
Also surviving are two children, Anthony Kniolek II, Scranton; and Laura Hagerman and husband, Lance, Oakmont; two grandchildren, Evan Kniolek and Avanna Czarkowski; a sister, Elizabeth Ann Skosko and husband, John, Scranton; two sisters-in-law, Margaret Doyle and husband, Charles, Covington, Ga.; and Donna Flynn and husband, Robert, Scranton; an aunt; nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the Davies and Jones Funeral Chapel Inc., 135 S. Main Ave., Scranton, with services by the Rev. Korey Houser of Jackson Street Baptist Church. Interment, to be determined.
Friends may call Tuesday, from 4 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 712 S. Keyser Ave., Taylor, PA 18517.
